Slide Gate Valves

Slide gate valves give a robust, full-bore shut off for heavy, coarse and abrasive materials. A solid plate slides across the discharge opening and retracts fully clear of the flow path, so they cope with larger particle sizes than a butterfly valve and last longer on abrasive duties. When should I use a slide gate valve instead of a butterfly valve?

Choose a slide gate valve for heavy, coarse or abrasive materials where a butterfly valve would wear too quickly, and where you need a strong full-bore shut off. Butterfly valves suit finer materials and standard control duties.

What valve drive options are available?

Manual handwheel for infrequent operation, pneumatic (single or twin piston) for fast automated cycling, and motorised electric where compressed air is not available or powered control is preferred.

Do you supply valves for ATEX dust environments?

Yes. For explosive dust atmospheres we can supply valves and actuators with the appropriate ATEX ratings. Tell us the zone classification and we will specify accordingly.
